Zach grew up in Savannah. He obtained his undergraduate degree from New York University. He returned to Georgia to attend law school at Mercer University. During law school, Zach was inducted into the Order of the Barristers. He moved back to Savannah to begin his career with Savage, Turner, Pinson & Karsman focusing on medical malpractice. In 2007, he joined Bergen & Bergen, P.C. where he has practiced since. He is a Partner with the practice. Zach has been recognized as a Rising Star by Georgia Super Lawyers every year since 2009. He has been asked to give presentations to attorneys and healthcare providers on many issues involved with medical malpractice and other personal injury cases. He is rated AV Preeminent® by Martindale-Hubbell which signifies that his reviewed peers rank him at the highest level of professional excellence for legal knowledge, communication skills and ethical standards.

Zach served as an Officer for the Savannah Trial Lawyers Association for four years, and was elected President of the Savannah Trial Lawyers Association in 2016. He has also served at the state-wide level with the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association.  Zach was 1 of 17 lawyers to graduate from the 2014-2015 Georgia Trial Lawyers Association LEAD Program (“Leadership Education & Advanced Direction”). LEAD participants are selected by GTLA as younger lawyers with leadership potential. Currently, he is a Board Member on the GTLA Political Action Committee.

Outside of work, Zach enjoys supporting charitable organizations such as the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. He participated in the 2018 LLS Man and Woman of the Year competition for the Savannah District, and was honored to be named 2018 Man of the Year after his team raised over $137,000.00 to help the fight against blood cancer. He currently volunteers on the LLS Man and Woman of the Year Leadership Committee.

Most recently, Zach was selected to the 2019 Leadership Savannah class. The mission of Leadership Savannah is “to develop effective community leaders who work to strengthen our region.”
